What makes us unique?
-
Integration with Data Science and Artificial Intelligence
As part of a larger effort at JHU to hire 80 engineering faculty in AI over five years, LCSR has benefited from many talented new faculty members interested in work at the intersection of robotics and AI.
-
State-of-the-art Labs
Students have the option to work in one of LCSR faculty’s cutting-edge laboratories to complete the degree in the essay-based track.
-
The Master's Scholars program
Exceptional students will be considered for a summer internship with the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory.
About our program
Access to our LCSR
The Robotics MSE is uniquely positioned in the Laboratory for Computational Sensing and Robotics (LCSR), one of the nation’s largest robotics research centers.
Cross-departmental learning
The MSE in robotics blends scientific inquiry with practical applications in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, computer science, and more.
Industry connections through Hopkins
Access to strong collaborators at the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Lab and Johns Hopkins Medicine, NASA, and a global alumni network across industry and academia.
We provide professional preparation and access
With a designated master’s graduate educator/advisor and access to an array of career networks and programs, graduate prepared for success in industry, research, or entrepreneurial ventures.
“I came to Hopkins with the hope to get a more focused education on robotics and human–AI systems. From end to end it’s been a really great learning experience. The great thing about the robotics program is that LCSR lets you structure your degree the way you want.”
Kinjal Shah, Engr ‘21 (MSE)
Outcomes-oriented
Our graduates are leaders in industry and entrepreneurs, working at the forefront of fields specializing in SLAM, design, and mechatronics.
The mean salary of Johns Hopkins graduates who earn a robotics degree in 2024 was $102,266. Positions held by recent graduates include controls engineer, senior systems integration engineer, R&D engineer, and more.
