Nassir Navab was awarded the 10- Year Lasting Impact Award at the 14th IEEE International Symposium on Mixed and Augmented Reality (ISMAR 2015) held in October in Fukuoka, Japan. His valuable contributions to the field of Medical Augmented Reality led to this award. Nassir Navab directs the Computer Aided Medical Procedures laboratory in LCSR and also is a Professor at the Technische Universitat Munchen in Germany.

Noah Cowan, associate professor in the Whiting School of Engineering’s Department of Mechanical Engineering and co-director of the LCSR, and James Knierim, professor of neuroscience in the Zanvyl/Krieger Mind/Brain Institute, were selected to receive a 2015 Johns Hopkins Discovery Award. Their proposed study, entitled “Engineering Approaches to Studying Spatial Representations in the Brain”, aims to use engineering approaches to shed new light on the brain’s “inner GPS”. Cowan is director of the LIMBS laboratory.

Chen Li will join the Department of Mechanical Engineeering and the LCSR as an assistant professor in the fall of 2015. Li completed his PhD at the School of Physics at Georgia Institute of Technology in 2011. Since 2012, Li has been a Miller Fellow at University of California, Berkeley in the Poly-PEDAL Lab and Biomimetic Millisystems Lab. To learn more, click here
